RECREATION AND TOURISM

rect

Numerous recreation venues await the adventurous soul in the Town of Geneva. Whether your're interested in a Zumba or photography class at the Geneva Community Center on Carter Road, or a round of golf at Seneca Lake Country Club, the town has plenty to offer. Also of interest to town of Geneva residents, starting in 2015, the Town has set aside funds so that recreational activities sponsored by the City of Geneva and used by Town residents will no longer cost more for town residents.

Just seven miles south of the city of Geneva sits 83 acres of land that were owned and managed by Polly Spedding and her husband for over 50 years. The land was turned over to the Town of Geneva and was used to establish the Kashong Conservation Area.

Today, numerous well-kept trails meander through marsh, meadow and forest. It's a perfect spot for hiking and jogging in the spring, summer and fall; in the winter, it's just right for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. It's ideal anytime for bird-watching anytime.

Several picnic tables are available - what a wonderful spot for a picnic, and don't forget your dog, through she must be on a leash.

Over the last several years, many dedicated volunteers have contributed to making the KCA what is is today. For example, footbridges have recently been added to the trails. Over the next several years more improvements and enhancements will be made. But for now, come and enjoy a hidden gem in our midst, the Kashong Conservation Area.
